Daniel Chooses Love Is Back on Substack
This picture of Doc has nothing to do with this post, but he got a haircut today and I think he looks so handsome!
Some of you might remember that there was a Substack version of Daniel Chooses Love once before. I got rid of it. I was in a rough place with my self-esteem at the time, and that made it hard to feel like my writing deserved a wider reach — like it was worth the effort of showing up in someone's inbox. So I quietly shut it down and didn't say much about it.
I'm in a different place now. And Daniel Chooses Love is back on Substack.

Part of what's bringing me back to Substack is practical: I've mostly stepped away from social media. I used to share every post there, and that was how a lot of people found their way here. Without that, there's a real chance a post goes up and the people who would have wanted to read it just... never see it. A Substack subscription fixes that. Every post, straight to your inbox, no algorithm involved.
But there's more to it than logistics. Lately I've been writing privately — blog-post-style journal entries that aren't for public consumption, just for me. I didn't expect it, but that writing has genuinely shifted something in how I see myself as a writer. It's looser, more honest, less performed. And I want to bring some of that energy into the public version of DCL — into what I write here on the website and into what lands in your inbox.
So relaunching the Substack isn't just about distribution. It feels like the right way to mark a new season of this writing. A new level of availability for work that I think is becoming something I'm proud of again.
It's free. It will always be free. I just want the writing to reach the people it's for.
Thanks as always for reading!
